Holland Park

Notting Hill

It plays host to a world-famous summertime carnival and was the setting of the classic late 90s movie starring Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant. Notting Hill is a true melting pot of cultures and has transformed into one of London’s most desirable areas. The owners of this spacious five-storey period property had a young family – a factor that was reflected in the project’s brief.

With the home’s period backdrop, a simple, contemporary and clutter-free interior design scheme was requested for the young family. As parents to young boys, our client asked for a child-friendly home, which meant that integrating durable and practical furniture, fabrics and finishes was important in the redesign.

Project Overview

The foundation of the project was to create synergy between quality design and functional living. Using our extensive supplier relationships and profound product knowledge, our contemporary, pared-down design scheme meets the needs of this young London family.

We used a soft, muted colour palette to add a sense of warmth to the property, with rooms in a white finish to maximise light and space. All the windows at the front of the property have been left undressed, aiding the simple design scheme and allowing available light to fill the rooms.

Luxury interior design in Notting Hill and throughout London

Simple clean lines and a monochrome colour palette welcome guests in the entrance hall. A timeless feel is brought up to date with a striking pendant chandelier that emits a beautiful soft light over the hall’s harlequin floor, together with contemporary light fittings and furniture that maintain the sense of space.

In the living room, the rug forms the foundation of the warm colour palette where we chose to mimic the soft citrine hue in the choice of silk-effect wallpaper. The contrast of dark timber set against a neutral colour palette adds a sense of sophistication, with the scheme being brought together by the patterned fabric used for the cushions. Contemporary wall lights add a soft ambient light to the space and a sense of warmth and luxury for entertaining.

From Concept
to Completion

As the design journey evolves, we develop concept images, interior layouts and design schemes, which we present and discuss in detail with our client.

We also communicate design schemes through detailed and accurate 3D renders, which allows visualisation of the space in context with the proposed design.

Room Spotlight: Children's
Playroom and Bedroom

With their young family in mind, our client wanted an interactive, safe and playful area, in addition to the bedrooms, for their young sons to play. The playroom is located in the basement of the property and includes an indoor climbing wall built onto a background of chalkboard paint, upholstered circles built into the joinery for cosy seating and plenty of storage space for books, games and toys. It’s the perfect space for the children to play all year round, come rain or shine.

Family-friendly interior design

Working alongside our client’s architect, a blank canvas of white was created against which we could inject a burst of colour to make the room a vibrant and fun place to play. We used an oversized bespoke wallpaper of dripping paint in primary colours, easily applied to any size wall, to add pops of colour without feeling too busy.

A similar approach was taken in the boy’s bedrooms where we used wall stickers of their favourite superheroes. The fixed finishes were kept white so that the colours could be adapted as the children grow and again, plenty of shelving and built-in cupboards provide storage for books and toys.
