A minimalist design for a stylish industrial look bathroom

After purchasing this stucco-fronted Victorian duplex in Belsize Park as their first home, our client was excited to transform the space to reflect their personal style. Having lived and worked abroad, and travelled extensively, their interior design style was very international and their brief was to create a sophisticated industrial style bathroom showcasing their love of natural stone.

We chose exquisite Calacatta Gold marble, which radiates luxury and has a striking warmth to its gold veining. As the ceilings were very high in the bathroom, the marble was clad only ¾ of the ceiling height with the area above painted. The vanity basin is constructed from the same marble and encased in a teak unit to complement the gold veining while the brassware is finished in vintage brass to reflect the sophisticated industrial look.

The bespoke mirror above the vanity reflects the storage unit behind, which was carefully constructed of doors using a veneer of the same marble to obtain a seamless look.

The shower area extends the entire width of the bathroom, which includes the window. This area has been clad in an intricately patterned ceramic tile in gold print supplied by Made A Mano. A bespoke metal frame was designed to run along the edge of the shower screen and between the marble and ceramic tile to provide a clean break between finishes. It provides a sense of balance to the mix of materials and helps draw the eye to the furthest points of the room thereby enhancing the sense of space. We opted to paint the window frame in black too to finish the look. The effect is discreet yet powerful and enhances the sophisticated industrial look specified by our client.
