Hampstead

North West London

The Arts and Crafts movement was a playful one, giving our team the chance to push boundaries and create a scheme that delights the eye with unexpected contrasts. Building on the solidity of the original architecture, we developed a timeless foundation that allows contemporary, quirky details to shine.

The light-filled living room features bold Art Deco-inspired touches – from curved ebonised doors and a moulded geometric ceiling to the quieter textures of a subdued pewter fire surround. These nuanced additions feel inherently modern while subtly honouring the building’s history.

Our clients love to host, yet required specific, closed-off spaces for work. A key priority was creating a home that could adopt different personalities for different occasions. Large glazed doors span the hallway and living room; they can be thrown open to create an expansive entertaining space that draws the eye to the garden, or closed to form a private retreat.

The darker, contemporary dining room acts as a transition between the traditional panelled areas of the home and the pale, pared-back simplicity of the modern kitchen extension – a seamless blend of heritage and modern liveability.

Scope of Work

Interior Architecture

“One of the most dramatic contrasts in this house comes when you walk into the kitchen, the space opens into a calm box of light and clean lines, so distinct it’s hard to imagine you’re in the same house. The clean simplicity of it works so well as a fitting contrast.”
