Situated a stone’s throw from Hyde Park and the bustle of Knightsbridge is Ennismore Gardens, a stunning Grade II-listed mansion block built in the 1870s. The owner of this Victorian apartment wanted to transform the interior into a chic space with the opulent, sensorial feel of a luxurious hotel suite to serve as a London pied-à-terre.
Inspiration for the sleek style and sophisticated palette came from the timber-clad 1950s interiors of a favourite Lake Como hotel. Along with the pared-back modern aesthetic, our client wanted the interior to feel sensorial and indulgent, so we focused on rich, luxurious materials and plenty of ambient lighting.
The modern-minimalist mood was shaped through clean lines and walnut-clad walls set against the home’s Victorian framework. Natural light from expansive bay windows allowed for bolder materials, while discreet shadow-gap detailing gave the walnut centre stage.
In the open-plan kitchen-living room, this theme continues with a monolithic island in black and white marble. The result is a refined finish that balances minimalist drama with quiet luxury.
