Set in the heart of Fitzrovia, this 650-square-foot apartment presented a compelling architectural challenge: how to accommodate two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a generous entertaining space within a compact footprint.
Our client wanted a refined pied-à-terre with a strong material presence; a space where proportion, circulation, and functionality came together seamlessly. However, with dark, light-lacking corners and a stuttering sense of flow, we knew the internal architecture would require a radical new narrative first.
The redesign centred on spatial efficiency and clarity without feeling clinical. Key interventions included adding pocket doors to free up wall space and reconfiguring room relationships to improve movement throughout the home.
We introduced multi-purpose bespoke elements, such as a dual-height kitchen island and textured integrated storage. These architectural decisions created a layout that feels deliberate, generous, and unexpectedly adaptable for its size – proving that limited square footage is no barrier to sophisticated, characterful design.
